October 15, 2019 - Thanksgiving weekend is over and so is this years Operation Impact. Officers from the St. Thomas Police Service took part in this national initiative aimed at making Canadian roads safer by promoting safe driving habits and ticketing violators.

Here are the results for 2019.

  • 34 Speeding
  • 03 Fail to Stop for Stop Sign
  • 04 Cell Phone
  • 02 Fail to Wear Seat belt
  • 03 Disobey Lane Light
  • 01 Disobey Red Light
  • 01 Drive While Suspended
  • 01 Fail to Remain at the Scene of a Collision

Several Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere spot checks were conducted with approximately one thousand drivers spoken to over the course of the weekend. Officers reported testing eleven of those drivers for alcohol consumption with the roadside screening device. All eleven registered a pass and were sent on their way. There were no Impaired Driving Offences reported this weekend.

A seat belt inspection lane was conducted on Sunday with one driver being issued a ticket for failing to wear their seat belt.
