OPP  Lock It Or Lose It Multiple People Arrested

Central Elgin, ON - On May 28, 2019 around 3:15 a.m. officers with the Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle off of Wellington Road in the community of Lynhurst in Central Elgin, Ontario.

As a result of this 5 people were arrested and charged with the following:

  • 22-year-old Brandon HILLIARD of London, Ontario with,
    • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
    • Drive motor vehicle no licence
  • 19-year-old Bree-Anna MATTHEWS-HILLIARD of London Ontario with,
    • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • 13-year-old youth of London, Ontario with,
    • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • 15-year-old youth of London, Ontario with,
    • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • 16-year-old youth of London, Ontario with,
    • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

All accused were arrested without incident. All accused will appear in St. Thomas Criminal Court at a later date.

The Elgin County OPP would like to remind the public to lock their:

  • Vehicles
  • Sheds
  • Garage doors
  • Anything of value that people do not want stolen

Inspector Fishleigh, Detachment Commander:

  • "I can assure the public that our officers are continually patrolling your neighbourhoods. With that being said, police are only one pillar to crime prevention. People need to take an active role and lock up their valuables, stop leaving their vehicles and garages open. The simple actions of locking up, removing valuable, will eliminate the majority of thefts from your neighbourhoods. These are crimes of opportunities. Please lock it or lose it."
