Heading into their fourth week of the season Port Stanley Festival Theatre is thrilled
to say that tourism in the county of Elgin is thriving. Starting with a nearly sold
out run of 'Rhinestone Cowgirl' by Leisa Way and the Wayward Wind Band followed
by a well-received opening week of 'Hilda's Yard' by Norm Foster, Theatre Manager
Melissa Kempf says "we couldn't be happier with the response to our 2015 Season.
Lots of laughs, standing ovations and numerous sold out performances."
Along with the rave reviews of the season playbill the buzz about town is the theatre's
Expand the Experience - Pull Up A Seat & Name It campaign launched in May. As part
of the fundraising efforts to complete the expansion of the theatre, patrons, art-lovers
and community supporters are being given the opportunity to sponsor a seat in the
new auditorium which is scheduled to be complete by the summer of 2016.
For a $1,000 donation you could play a part in the remodeling of this cultural hub,
have your name or the name of a loved one inscribed on a plaque on the arm of a
new seat for 20 years as well as receive a tax receipt for your contribution. "Now
is your chance to think outside the box. Gather your golf buddies, a book club,
community organization you belong to or co-workers…each member could contribute
what they can to make up the $1,000 and we'd be happy to name a seat after you,"
suggests Artistic Director Simon Joynes.
To date one-fifth of the new seats have been sponsored and the capital campaign
team is hopeful to meet their goal of all fifty seats by the closing of their 2015
Season on September 19th. Foundations and corporations looking to make a donation
greater than $25,000 may also have the opportunity to name a room. The value of
the rooms yet to be named can be discussed with one of the theatre's campaign members
or board members. Remaining spaces include the box office lobby, the workshop, the
roof-top patio, production/admin office and the auditorium itself.
