The Port Stanley Festival Theatre kicked off the 2017 summer season with the opening
night of Oh Canada, We Sing For Thee! Held in the amazing "Grace Auditorium", this
show starring Leisa Way, and the Wayward Wind Band was created to celebrate Canada's
150th anniversary of Confederation by sharing our dreams, values, achievements,
our majestic country and our place in the world.
As an added bonus, for the run of the show, patrons have an opportunity
to view a gallery display showcasing Canadian musicians sponsored by Ontario 150
through Celebrate Ontario. With a variety of music genres from Country, Folk, Blues, Pop,
Rock and more, and with artists from Stan Rogers to Anne Murray, from Gordon Lightfoot
to BTO, from Michael Buble to the Guess Who, "Oh Canada: We sing for thee" brought
to the stage a non-stop parade of Canadian musicians hits.
In last night's performance, with so many great songs, it was hard to tell the audience's
favourite, but, mine was an amazing fiddle performance from the Don Messer's Jubilee
era. I would highly recommend this entertaining show that engages and inspires as
something that can't be missed, so do yourself a favour before closing night Saturday
June 3rd, and take in a performance filled with toe-tapping patriotism.
Oh Canada, We Sing For Thee! runs until June 3rd, 2017.
