"Five Alarm" by up and coming playwright Kristen Da Silva is about a daughters dream
of finally, after 16 years of trying, winning the town's tribute to her late father,
the Wayne Rose Memorial Chili Cook Off. This rollercoaster adventure that Ava Rose
takes, on her mission to equal the master of all masters chili, is an intriguing
and delightfully funny romp that keeps you guessing on what will happen next.
With true to life performances by Franny McCabe-Bennett as Ellen, a clueless assistant
who can't cook, but is willing to do anything, Danielle Nicole as Ava, the spinster
daughter that's trying to win the Wayne Rose Memorial Chili Cook Off, Jane Spence
as Connie, Ava's bitter rival and the one to beat, Jeffrey Wetsch as Tucker, Jane's
Cordon Blue assistant, and Tyler Rive as Caleb, the Channel 5 reporter and tasting
judge for the chili cook off. With a Hollywood style ending, and the audience as
it's judge, a standing ovation was the tribute for tonight's outstanding performance
of the World Premiere of "Five Alarm".
Artistic Director Simon Joynes did an outstanding job on directing the World Premiere
of "Five Alarm". Credit also goes to Lani Martel as stage manager, Jory Mclean as
apprentice assistant stage manager, Joshua Quinlan for set design, Karen Crichton
for the lighting design, Alex Amini for costume design, and a special thanks goes
out to Port Stanley's Studio Style as show sponsor.
"Five Alarm" runs from July 26th to August 12th, 2017, and it's a show that you
will want to remember for tips the next time you enter a Chili Cook Off!
