Juno award winning Newfoundland trio The Ennis Sisters is back in Ontario as part
of their annual Christmas tour. Sisters Maureen, Karen and Teresa -- world famous
for their warm harmonies, beguiling stage presence and heart-warming repertoire
-- will play the Mary Webb Centre in Highgate Saturday (Dec. 2) and St. Anne's Centre
in St. Thomas on Tuesday (Dec. 5) as part of a holiday tour that includes six Ontario
shows, five in Alberta and four in Newfoundland.
While the Mary Webb Centre show is sold out, there still are tickets available for
the St. Thomas venue, with proceeds supporting world relief efforts of St. Thomas
churches St. Hilda's, St. Luke's, Holy Angels', St. Anne's and St. Andrew's and
Our Lady of Sorrows in Aylmer.
"If you haven't heard The Ennis Sisters before, do yourself a favour and spend $20
and come out Tuesday night," said organizer Dave McCormick. "There's no better way
to celebrate the season," he said of the trio's uplifting music, charming humour
and feel-good vibe.
Born on The Rock to musical parents, the sisters have performed together since childhood,
recording nine albums, three of which are Christmas albums. They have won a Juno
award, SOCAN award, multiple East Coast Music Awards, and Music Newfoundland and
Labrador awards. Their latest non-holiday album, Stages, is a return to their favourite
folksong style with Irish Newfoundland flare. In February, they tour England with
Nova Scotia singer-songwriter Dave Gunning, who also has played several shows in
