20 Something and Counting

Nancy and Frank Prothero have just released their latest book, "A Majority of One: The Life and Times of Olive Evans".

The book focuses on the life of Olive Evans, a Port Stanley girl who became one of the founders of modern radio in the 1920s and 1930s. The number of books written and published by Nan-Sea Publications is now over 25 and sales exceed thirty-thousand copies.

The Port Stanley authors, who have resided on Mitchell Heights for the past 50 years have written extensively on Great Lakes, regional and local history.

Their newest release will be available in Port Stanley Foodland immediately and in other outlets in the near future.

Nancy and Frank released their first book, "The Good Years", in 1973 and readily admit that the publishing industry has undergone great changes since then. "We usually printed at least two thousand copies of each new book," Nancy stated. "We always sold out but the market is not what it once was. We now focus on specific topics that will appeal to a smaller audience. it is still a matter of keeping our heritage alive and from promoting commercial fishing to celebrating our Stork Club, Mackies, the L&PS and many other themes, we do our best to explain to anyone who will listen what this community is all about and we are thankful for the opportunity to have done that."
