Volunteers Spring Into Action June 14

500 volunteers, 29 projects, one big Day of Caring® presented by Libro Credit Union

Elgin and Middlesex, ON - On Thursday, June 14, 2018, nearly 500 volunteers will roll up their sleeves to help social service agencies and improve lives locally.

United Way Elgin Middlesex's 20th annual Day of Caring® presented by Libro Credit Union will mobilize over 500 employees from 23 workplaces throughout the region to help local United Way funded agencies with 29 projects.

Volunteers will tackle everything from sprucing up cabins for summer campers to painting murals, gardening and general maintenance. In addition to a satisfying day of hands-on work, volunteers will get a look into daily life at United Way-funded agencies.

“Day of Caring® is a great way for United Way supporters to give time and elbow-grease and transform their community in a day,” says Kelly Ziegner, CEO United Way Elgin Middlesex. “It's also an introduction to the work that happens at our funded agencies year-round to make our community a better place for everyone.”

At 11:20 a.m., volunteers will gather in London and St. Thomas to kick off Day of Caring® with welcome speeches, pizza lunch and a group selfie.
