It's that time again when the Municipality of Central Elgin begins a new year of budget discussions.
The Municipality of Central Elgin has started their 2019 Budget talks on Monday,
February 4th, 2019 at 450 Sunset Drive in the lower level of the Elgin County Administration
This year because of three brand new Council members, an orientation presentation
of the how the budget gets put together from start to finish from Karen Harris Central
Elgin's Director of Finance and Treasurer was on the agenda. She showed a detailed
power point presentation to give this new Central Elgin Council a better idea on
how a budget gets put together. From a detailed financial breakdown necessary to
understand Central Elgin objectives, to guidelines, and credit limits to creating
a new balanced budget.
No real projected spending was discussed, but reference to Central Elgin's borrowing
limits were. Currently, and for the next seven years Central Elgin has a maximum
payment limit of just over a one million dollars due to previous infrastructure spending.
