We would like to raise reader's awareness that it's kitten season and many kittens
are being born around sheds, backyards or barns. Port Stanley Cat Rescue can help
provide relief by capturing & socializing the kittens after they have been with
the mother for at least 4-6 weeks, then getting them adopted. We are a registered
non-profit charity and now an official Adoption Partner with Petsmart in London.
PLEASE do not let them go unattended, saying "they are so cute...". Kittens grow
quickly and a female cat can go into heat as early as 4 1/2 months and once a female
has her first heat, it will happen continuously until she mates or is spayed. If
the situation is left unchecked, a cat colony will soon occur, some get hit on the
road, others die from preventable causes or starvation. The lucky ones have kind
residents who feed them on a regular basis and hopefully get veterinary care.
We also help feral, stray or abandoned cats and try to re-unite owners with their
lost pets. There are several feral colonies in the village where we feed cats on
a daily basis. But all this requires financial and moral support. We conduct two
garage sales every year with donated articles, we also make and sell fruit jams
made from local produce over the summer (watch for further notice as to dates and
locations where we sell our jams, thanks to local merchants) and we receive many
generous donations from caring patrons. Our first garage sale is May 19th at 275
Edith Cavell Blvd, in front of unit 19 from 8-12 PM. Please drop by or donate any
unwanted items to help us raise funds.
We always need volunteers, especially if you can help drive an animal to the vet
or help at trade shows and garage sales or provide foster care for a vetted cat
that needs a temporary home until an adoptive one can be found. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!
Our telephone # is 519-782-4914. Thanks again!
