Port Stanley News RSS Feed Letters Historical Sparta Lighting

April 18, 2019

Reading about the high cost of burying electric cables in Sparta Historical District, would wooden poles with wires strung between them not be more historically correct?

The idea of buried cables is a fairly new idea. Look at any historical pictures of Sparta and the first electric wiring for street lighting and private connections was overhead.

If you are calling it historical, make it so. If you want modern metal or concrete poles with cables being buried don't call it historic.
