May 28th, 2019 - A twenty year old St. Thomas man already being held in custody
at the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre was arrested at the Elgin County Court House
yesterday morning around 8 am after he arrived to court on the prisoner escort.
The man is currently in custody on domestic related offences after an incident last
week. As a result of the ongoing investigation, Officers formed grounds to charge
him additionally with one count Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.
The man is already charged two counts Utter Threats, one count Assault and two count
Breach of Probation.
Disobey School Bus
A twenty six year old male was issued a four hundred and ninety dollar fine and
six demerit points after he drove through a stopped school bus with the lights and
arm bar activated. The incident took place last Wednesday morning May 22nd when
a school bus headed northbound stopped to pick up student on Burwell Road near Greenway
Blvd. A car travelling southbound met the bus and passed it without coming to a
stop. The bus driver was able to record the licence plate on the vehicle and report
the driver to police.
A thirty six year old St. Thomas man was arrested yesterday morning around 10:30
am after threatening to harm his estranged wife during an argument. The man was
taken into custody without incident and charged one count Uttering Threats to Cause
Death or Bodily Harm. He was later released on a Promise to Appear in Court.
Break and Enter
Twenty five year old Justin Dobson of St. Thomas was arrested early this morning
just after midnight when Police were called to a hardware store after the security
monitoring company called to report an alarm was sounding. Officers located Dobson
a short distance away pushing a shopping cart loaded with stolen items. Dobson is
alleged to have cut the fence to a secure compound and removed several large batteries.
Dobson was taken into custody without incident and held at the Colin McGregor Justice
Building for court. He is charged one count Break and Enter, one count Possession
of Break and Enter Tools, one count Theft Under $5000 and two counts Breach of Release
