2017 World Tubing Championships Announce Plan B – BRING IT ON

St. Thomas, ON - Fluctuating weather conditions won't put a halt to the 2017 World Tubing Championships returning to St. Thomas this Family Day Weekend – Saturday, February 18th and Sunday, February 19th at the McCaig Family International Tubing Park (Bush Line and Sunset Drive) in St. Thomas.

"Plans and preparations are well underway, and we're moving ahead with complete confidence," declares STEGH Foundation Paul Jenkins. "Our sponsors and competitors are excited for the return of 'The Worlds' and, with only eight days to go – rain, snow or shine – we can't wait to see it all come together!"

Presented by Impressions Printing, this FREE, family friendly winter festival and fundraiser – with an epic tubing competition as its flagship event – will host a weekend of Canadiana, cold, and competing in a sport requiring no discernible ability, all in support of the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital and the purchase of a new CT Scanner.

Partners

This ambitious event couldn't happen without the generosity of a wonderful group of STEGH Foundation supporters known as the 'Friends of the Worlds.' Some of our long list of event partners responsible for key aspects of the Tubing Championships include:

  • Callon-Dietz – Stage
  • McDonalds – Opening Night Ceremonies
  • Railway City Tourism – Closing Night Ceremonies
  • Coad Heating & Plumbing/My Fireplace – Tube Sponsors
  • H. Broer Equipment & Sales – Power
  • Steelway Building Systems – Hill
  • Streib Trucking – Trucking
  • JWA Group – Creative
  • Fanshawe College – Kids' Zone
  • Ontario Southwest Tourism – Food/Tent
  • Dowler-Karn – Diesel Fuel

For All Involved

A gigantic heated tent will provide shelter from the cold, and visitors can purchase food and beverages from an array of onsite vendors. A fulsome schedule of live entertainment will delight patrons of all ages, and a dedicated Kids' Zone will keep children busy and engaged with crafts, cookie decorating and colouring.

Opening ceremonies on Saturday night include a performance by Canadian female country artist Genevieve Fisher. And on Sunday night, following the presentation of medals for our 2017 tubing champions, a spectacular fireworks display will delight the crowd and bring 'The Worlds' to a close once more.

A FREE and accessible bus shuttle service to the site is available both days, to and from the Elgin Mall.

More than 50 teams raising at least $1,000 each are already registered, and it's not too late to enter a team!
