All of us at Family and Children's Services Elgin agree that our ultimate goal is
to work ourselves out of a job, because that would mean every child and youth in
Elgin County is safe.
For this to happen, we need a strong community, and one of the ways our agency supports
this is through charity.
Apart from encouraging the individual charitable work of our staff, we have long
made "giving" a key part of our agency culture.
Our agency staff have been involved in numerous food drives and fundraising runs,
have contributed to and attended fundraising auctions and been participants in awareness
walks. We have sold cookbooks, bought raffle tickets and donated hundreds of hours
of labour "in-kind".
And one area for which we are very proud is our United Way support.
Our staff, through payroll donations, have been silently, invisibly giving to the
United Way on a monthly basis for years.
And when you hear "every penny counts", or "it all adds up", we are proud to recognize
that at the end of 2017 our agency staff will have donated over $100,000 since 2000.
We thank the United Way for all the great work that they do for our community, for
our families and for our children and youth.
